Privacy policy

Effective July 1, 2026. Updated October, 26, 2026.

The short version

We collect only what we need to run the association and stay in touch with neighbors. We never sell your information, and we never share it with anyone outside the association except the services that help us operate, like PayPal for payments.

Who we are

This website is run by Historic Buckhead Forest, Inc., a Georgia 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that operates as the Historic Buckhead Forest Civic Association. When this policy says “we,” it means the association and its volunteer board.

What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us through forms on this site:

  • Contact details: your name, street address, email, and phone number if you provide it, plus the name and email of another adult in your household if you add one.
  • Membership and payments: which year you paid dues, how much you paid, and any donation. Card and bank details are entered directly with PayPal or your own bank (for Zelle) and never reach us.
  • Your preferences: whether you want association emails and whether you want to be listed in the members-only directory.
  • Volunteer interests: the committees and projects you sign up for and anything you tell us about your skills.
  • Messages and survey answers: what you send through the contact form or share in neighborhood surveys.
  • Committee participation (if you volunteer): which committees you’re on, and anything you post in a committee’s private discussion.

Like most websites, our hosting provider also keeps basic technical logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, to keep the site secure and running.

How we use it

  • To match dues payments to households and keep an accurate membership roster.
  • To send receipts for your tax records.
  • To send association news, event announcements, and votes, if you opted in.
  • To connect volunteers with the right committee.
  • To answer your questions and understand what neighbors want, so we can set priorities.
  • To give paid members access to the members-only area.

Who sees it

Your information is available to the association’s board and, where needed, to committee leads. For example, a volunteer sign-up goes to the committee you chose. Dues-paying households may be listed in the members-only neighbor directory, showing the name, street address, email, and phone number on file. Each member is shown their listing the first time they visit the members area and can remove themselves at any time from My account.

If you join a committee, your name, street address, email, and phone number are shown to the other members of that committee, and your posts in its discussion are visible to them. The board can see every committee’s space. Committee spaces are never visible to the public or to members outside the committee.

We also rely on a few services to operate: PayPal processes payments, InterServer hosts this website, and an email service delivers our updates. Each handles your information only to provide that service. We never sell, rent, or trade your information.

Survey results may be shared with neighbors as summaries, without names or addresses attached.

Cookies

This site uses only the cookies it needs to work, such as keeping members logged in. PayPal may set its own cookies when you pay.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from association emails using the link in any email.
  • Update your details or directory listing from your member account, or by asking us.
  • Ask us to delete your information. We may keep basic payment records as long as nonprofit recordkeeping rules require.

Keeping it safe

Access to member information is limited to the people who need it, and accounts are protected by passwords. No website is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Children

This site is meant for adult residents, and children cannot create accounts or submit forms. Parents can choose to add their kids’ first names and birth years to their own listing in the members-only directory. We do not collect any other information about children, and we never share it outside the directory.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
